The Burial Process

BURIAL STEPS:

  • Choose one person to manage the Janaazah for the family (Informant).

If the death occurs at home

  • Contact the paramedics or doctor to certify that the person has died
  • Contact the police to obtain a death notification for the cemetery
  • Contact the doctor to issue a death certificate
  • Select and contact the undertaker
  • Under normal circumstances the body will remain at home

If the death occurs in hospital

  • Select and contact the undertaker
  • Under normal circumstances no post mortem will be required
  • The body will be released to the undertaker

If the death occurs out of hospital and a post mortem is required

  • Contact the paramedics or doctor to certify that the person has died
  • Contact the police to obtain a death notification for the cemetery
  • Contact the doctor to issue a death certificate
  • Select and contact the undertaker
  • The body will go to the morgue for autopsy
  • The body will be released to the undertaker

If the death occurs in hospital and an investigation is required

  • Select and contact the undertaker
  • The hospital will send the body to the morgue for autopsy
  • The body will be released to the undertaker

The general burial process

  • Prepare all the documents
  • The App will allow you to select the Cemetery
  • The App will allow you to select the Undertaker
  • Book a burial once you have selected a cemetery
  • Submit the documentation to the undertaker
  • Undertaker will advise of the payment
  • Cemetery will confirm the burial hole and the date and time it will be ready
  • Cemetery will provide your undertaker with a burial pass (date, time and hole location)
  • Purchase the deceased cloth (kafan) and grave boards
  • Arrange for the body washing and shrouding
  • Appoint a learned scholar to perform the Janaazah Salaah
  • Arrange a place to perform the Janaazah Salaah
  • Arrange the burial hearse
  • Once the above have been accomplished, proceed to the cemetery
  • Present the burial pass when arriving at the cemetery
  • Perform the burial at the cemetery

The undertaker will advise of any specific requirements depending on the circumstances.
